Consultancy · Games inclusion
Inclusion and representation in games.
Representation shapes how players understand a game's characters and world. I offer studios a direct, non-judgemental review of gender, queer and trans representation while there is still time to act on it.
The question this track answers
What does the game make possible for its players?
We look at character, world and play together, so representation is considered as part of the experience rather than as a final compliance check.
How I can help
From a quick read to a full review.
Representation sense-check
A focused read of a character, a script section or a concept, with written feedback on the questions it raises.
Inclusion review & report
A structured review of script, art, and gameplay for representation, ending in a detailed report with specific, actionable recommendations.
Trans & queer representation session
A workshop or working session for your team, with the option to extend into spot-checks across production.
How it works
How a review works.
We agree which material to review and the questions you want to explore. My feedback connects specific choices in character, narrative and play with their implications for representation, with suggestions to discuss as your project develops.
This draws on my games teaching, including the Interactivity module developed with colleagues, doctoral supervision on game localisation, the Solo RPG Influence Map, and research in progress on trans representation in A Normal Lost Phone.
